My Favorite Proposal Yet

From bed at 6 AM, I am writing this to share the cutest proposal story ever...

Our bride, Cara, worked as a writer for a magazine (I believe) and often had to meet up with a man in her field to discuss work. One night, a few too many drinks caused one thing to lead to another... Anyway, this guy (Rob) ended up asking Cara out on a date and four days later they met up for dinner. At this date, Rob handed Cara a letter in a sealed envelope and made her promise to bring it everywhere with her, but not open it until she was told to. So, everywhere Cara went, the letter went. Cara and Rob took photos with the letter on vacations, brought it to dinners, etc. For a while, Cara thought the letter was going to be a cheesy way for Rob to say I love you.

Well, after about a year and a half, Cara and Rob and the letter went on vacation somewhere pretty (I can't remember) and when Cara got home, she realized the letter didn't come home with her. Hysterical, Cara called the hotel, the airline, and her best friend in a panic that the letter went missing. It had such a sentimental value to her after a year and a half, and even though she had no idea what was written in it, she knew she needed it back.

The next morning, Cara met Rob and his mom for brunch at some fancy NYC hotel, puffy eyes and all, still in disbelief that she had finally lost the letter. After sitting down, the waiter came over to take breakfast orders and was carrying a single envelope on his platter. He offered the letter to Cara, the same letter she had thought she lost from Rob, and inside it said "Cara, I would ask you to marry me today, but you may find it weird after only 4 days. Now, after waiting for all this time, will you marry me?".

Cutest story ever? Cara was covered in goosebumps when she shared the story, and so was I -- goosebumps and jealousy! She was such a sweet woman with a great story, and I'm so glad I was able to work with her.

Travel Guide: Barbados

Hi ya'll! Welcome to Friday. Amen, we've made it. In the beginning of February, I was lucky enough to escape the snowy cold of NYC (seriously, I missed a big snow storm that closed down my office), and headed to the beautiful island of Barbados. For those of you who know the name but can't point it out on a map, Barbados is a little island just southeast of Saint Lucia in the Caribbean. Brett's parents, Laura and Jim, vacationed to Barbados last year and were SO beyond kind enough to ask us to join them this year. A week away from work, a tropical island without sharks, and free tour guides (aka Brett's parents) -- who would say no to that?! For anyone looking to book a vacation, or anyone looking to torture themselves with really pretty pictures of a really pretty place, see below for a Barbados travel guide! The island was truly amazing, with friendly locals, beautiful beaches, and delicious cuisine, and I would absolutely return! I'm usually ready to ...

Dress-Up Day

Tuesday is a weird day.... I have off Monday and Wednesday, so going into work today and having off tomorrow feels pretty odd! Anyway, I once again arrived too early this morning, so I stopped at Starbucks and had my first Pumpkin Spice Latte. I have to admit, it did make me excited for fall... We had our morning meeting out on the main floor today. Nicole and Kim (two Directors) showed off the new Augusta Jones dresses which were really pretty! I also met a consultant who has been on vacation. After the meeting, Joan paired me with Rita, a consultant who has been with Kleinfeld for over 20 years. She is from Italy and there is a slight language barrier, but she was so funny and nice and kept me laughing the entire time! While there were over 70 appointments today, Rita and I only had two brides! The day was so slow for us, and therefore boring at times. I really did enjoy working with Rita, though. Because she has been with Kleinfeld for so long, she knows everything, and freely s...

Wild Friday Nights

Happy Friday! I wish I were able to request more hours in the day today. I got back to the Bronx from work tonight, worked out, gathered laundry, and put my dinner in the oven, and now it's almost 9 o'clock. My dinner is still cooking, my laundry is in the dryer, I still need to shower, and I certainly would love to sit down with a glass of wine and watch some TV. Three extra hours, please! When I woke up this morning, I consulted weather.com and it advised me to wear rain boots and dress for colder weather. I put on the most comfortable, appropriate outfit I could think of for work, as well as my rain boots again, and headed outside into a rather comfortable temperature. The rain boots were unnecessary for the second time in a row, but I know the day I don't wear them it will be pouring. I got into Manhattan really early, so I stopped at Trader Joe's and did some much needed food shopping. I made my own tea again this morning, so I wonder if my tea friend was missi...
