Tuesday is a weird day.... I have off Monday and Wednesday, so going into work today and having off tomorrow feels pretty odd! Anyway, I once again arrived too early this morning, so I stopped at Starbucks and had my first Pumpkin Spice Latte. I have to admit, it did make me excited for fall...
We had our morning meeting out on the main floor today. Nicole and Kim (two Directors) showed off the new Augusta Jones dresses which were really pretty! I also met a consultant who has been on vacation. After the meeting, Joan paired me with Rita, a consultant who has been with Kleinfeld for over 20 years. She is from Italy and there is a slight language barrier, but she was so funny and nice and kept me laughing the entire time!
While there were over 70 appointments today, Rita and I only had two brides! The day was so slow for us, and therefore boring at times. I really did enjoy working with Rita, though. Because she has been with Kleinfeld for so long, she knows everything, and freely spoke her opinions to me the entire day.
Our first bride was an actress who brought along two of her friends. She came in looking for the Mona Lisa gown by Maggie Sottero. Maggie designs beautiful gowns for a low budget bride. The Mona Lisa looked very Shakespearian; it was a satin gown with beading on top and pick-ups all throughout the bottom. Totally not my style, but it was perfect for the bride! She looked great in it, and you could tell that it fit her personality perfectly. Since everyone loved the dress on her and it was way cheaper than the budget her mom gave her, the bride looked for another dress to wear to the reception! Rita found her a Henry Roth dress that was ruched with beading at the top. The bride left without buying, saying she needs to speak to her mom (who lives in Cali) and Rita doesn't think she'll be back.... I think she will be, so we'll see!
The next two appointments were open for us, so after chatting for a while, Rita told me to go find a dress to try on. AH! I went straight for the Pnina Tornai gowns... They're so extravagant and beautiful, I couldn't help myself! The gown I chose to try on was actually once I pinned on Pinterest a while ago. It was $10,000 and absolutely, positively beautiful! Rita loved it on me, too. But really, how could you not? Pnina is amazing.
Finally, during the last time slot, we got another bride. The girl, we'll call Sabrina, had been to an appointment before with Rita, but after thinking about her dress, got nervous of the ivory color. During the appointment, Sabrina tried on a few other dresses before putting back on the dress she purchased. Sabrina really liked another dress by Maggie, but in the end, she stuck with the dress she originally purchased, and she really did wear it well!
Now, I'm watching Dance Moms with Grace and sipping on a nice glass of wine. I have off tomorrow, but I think I'll just cook some food for the rest of the week and catch up on some reading for my class tomorrow night. I would love to go see the World Trade Center Memorial, but unfortunately class time interferes. I really hope everyone takes a moment tomorrow to remember 9/11 and every life that was lost...
